ISLAND TREAT: ALIZE BAILEY Featured

ISLAND TREAT: ALIZE BAILEY

Island Treats has returned to Today In Bermuda. This week we are featuring teenage beauty Alize Bailey, who hails from Sandys.

Alize is set to put Bermuda on the international map once again as she has been selected as a finalist for both the Top Model UK and Top Model Worldwide competitions.

After successfully making it through two stages of auditions, which saw her vying against over 4,000 competitors, Alize will be participating in the Editorial category for Top Model UK and will also be representing Bermuda for Top Model Worldwide. Both competitions take place on March 18, 2017, in London.

While both competitions will be judged by a panel of industry experts, there is a Public Vote Award where all proceeds go towards the Children with Cancer UK charity.

To support Alize, you can visit her page directly and vote for her at www.virginmoneygiving.com/AlizeBailey.

Alize, who is studying for a degree in Business Management at the University of West England, took a few moments out of her busy schedule to give a little insight on what makes her tick.

TIB: What made you enter the competition?
AB: I've admired the prestigious competition for a while now and I've always said to myself that I would at least try to audition. I went out on a limb and just took the risk. I really didn't expect to get shortlisted, let alone selected.

TIB: How would you describe your personal style? Do you have a favourite item of clothing?
AB: I would describe my personal style as a fine balance between cute and comfortable.

TIB: What was your image of yourself growing up? Did you ever imagine you would be where you are today?
AB: If someone told me 10 years ago that I'd be a contestant in one of the most prestigious modeling competitions I definitely would not believe them! I would have never thought that I would even have the confidence to stand on a stage and model.

TIB: Who inspires you and why?
AB: I often find myself getting inspired by Bermudians who are excelling in their crafts overseas. Individuals such as Lillian Lightbourn, Shiona Turini, Nahki Wells etc. Its very motivating to know that fellow Bermudians are flourishing at an international level.

TIB: What is your career aspiration?
AB: I aspire to be an insurance underwriter, but I'm not 100 percent sure yet.

TIB: How would you describe your personal style? What's your favourite item of clothing?
AB: A fine balance between cute and comfortable. My favorite item of clothing is sweatpants! They're so comfortable and I love them. If I could wear them everywhere I would.

TIB: Can you cook? If so, what is your favourite meal?
AB: I'd say I'm a decent chef; my favourite meal is my mom's Shephard's Pie! Yum!

TIB: If you could have dinner with someone, living or dead, who would it be and why?
AB: If I could have dinner with anyone of my choice it would have to be Michelle Obama. She is a powerful woman who radiates self-confidence, class, knowledge and style. All traits of which I aspire to obtain.

TIB: What is your favourite part about being a Bermudian?
AB: There are many reasons why I love being Bermudian! But I would have to say that my favourite part about it is that I have this beautiful island that I can call my home! A beautiful island with people that are just as beautiful, inside and out.

TIB: Your favourite quote and why?
AB: "Fall down seven times, stand up eight". It's a quote about perseverance. When you fall down just get right back up. The path to success is never straight and smooth. Therefore I feel that if you have the ability to get back up regardless of what put you down, you will be successful.

TIB: What's next for you?
AB: I've always been someone who "goes with the wind". Ideally I'd like to study for my Masters after my current Bachelors degree. However, you never know what opportunities may arise!
